J.C. Johnston

J.C Johnston is a Montreal-based poet and educator. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education focused on Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) from McGill University, informing her work publishing children’s stories and poetry with the Creative Arts Foundation of Canada in Montreal. During the pandemic, she embarked on backpacking and camping adventures across eastern Canada, drawing inspiration from the wild Canadian landscapes and fauna she encountered. This inspiration fuelled her latest poetry project, "Growing Gardens."

In her early 20s, J.C faced a life-altering health situation that led to a loss of hearing. Her unique experiences and perspectives on altered senses, along with her journey to find community and cope with chronic illness, serve as a driving force behind her writing. With a background in education and a passion for connecting with people through shared experiences, her poetry aims to resonate with readers on a profound level, bringing together themes of learning, resilience, and transformation.
