An Ottawan born and bred, Stewart began his career in the film and video world. His work as a writer-director was nominated for Gemini and CASBY awards and won accolades from the Yorkton Film Festival, the New York Film & Television Festival, the Mercury Awards (New York) and the Canadian Film & TV Association. Since 1998, he has focused solely on writing. He is currently head of writing at Stiff, an Ottawa strategic communications agency. Stewart’s self-published first novel, The Cutting Room, was a finalist in the English fiction category at the 2015 Ottawa Book Awards and named to Kirkus Reviews' Best Indie Novels of 2014. His mystery novel, Six Days to Say Goodbye, will be released by Ace of Swords Publishing in 2025. Stewart is currently working on the sequel, How Does the Big Man Sleep? It will be the second in the Tom Garvey mystery series. He is a member of the Writers’ Union of Canada, Canadian Authors Association, Crime Writers of Canada, Capital Crime Writers, and the Ottawa Independent Writers.
